Demonstration Day 4The Carmix South Africa team hosted a demonstration day on Friday 1st April 2016 to exhibit the full functionality of the Carmix 3.5TT

The demonstration was attended by a number of interested parties including members from the Stefanutti Stocks Group as well as representatives from Carmix Italy.

The demonstration was held at the Carmix South Africa yard in Modderfontein, Johannesburg where 2 full batches of 25mpa concrete were loaded, mixed and dispatched. The day began with a tour of the unit explaining all aspects of design, operation and maintenance followed by a demonstration of loading a specific mix design(In this case 2m3 of 25mpa) into the on-board Winscale weighing system.

Once the mix design was loaded batching began. The simplicity of operation is evident during the demonstration with each batch being completed in under 20 minutes and only 6 fully loaded buckets required to make a 3.5m3 batch of concrete. A detailed explanation of the advanced Winscale “Load Cell” system showed how accurately materials can be added to the drum which highlights Carmix’s goal of producing high quality concrete consistently. The Load Cells allow operators to completely control the quality of concrete output which can classify Carmix as not only a self-loading concrete mixer but a mobile concrete batching plant.

Emphasis was placed on the durability of the units in the harsh South African environment and explained that electronics, which often create problems by malfunctioning, have been avoided at all costs. All functions associated with loading, mixing and dumping, excluding the electronic weigh system, are hydraulically operated making the Carmix units robust and user friendly with functional simplicity being evident.

Following batching, discharging was demonstrated with the 300o slewing drum to show how mixed concrete can be delivered easily in any position around the Carmix unit.
